‘The Columbus Recycling and Sustainability Center processes all recyclables for Muscogee County and the surrounding areas daily. The project consisted of a two story office building providing offices, meeting spaces, educational areas and a roof-top garden. The rear of the facility is where the recyclables are received, sorted and staged in a 45,000 SF PEMB, the features of which include equipment pits, bunker walls, loading docks, a rainwater reclamation silo and pump system, and automated overhead doors. Jay Johnson served as Sr. Project Manager, and the project obtained a LEED Certification, the first of any significant capital improvement projects for the Consolidated Government of Columbus and Muscogee County.
